The Coffee Camper House Blend is a firm favourite amongst our customers and comes all the way from the foot of the Andes mountains in Colombia.
In honour of this and as Christmas draws ever nearer we thought it might be fun to look into how our coffee producing friends celebrate the festive season, turkey curry on boxing day? Read on to find out!
Christmas starts early in Columbia, from the 7th December onwards with the celebration of "la virgen de la inmaculada conception"- the immaculate conception.
The party really starts to crank up from the 16th all the way through to the 24th where every evening, families gather together to celebrate "La Novena de Agauinaldos"-remebering the birth of Jesus.
Christmas Eve is the big event with a special dinner known as "Cena de Navidad" - Christmas Dinner. This normally entails roasting an entire pig on an outdoor barbecue and drinking vast quantities of "Arguardiente" - an anise based liquor which is known for its potency and ability to encourage high spirited behaviour.
Christmas Day itself tends to be a slightly quieter affair, a time to nurse hangovers and generally come round from a drink induced coma.
Things start to ramp up once again for News Years Eve when families make life-sized dolls filled with fireworks. The evening is spent strolling round, drinking champagne and wishing everybody "Feliz ago Nuevo" - Happy New Year. Once Midnight rolls round its time to torch the doll and dodge the fireworks.
So there you have it, a slightly abbreviated version of a Colombian Christmas. It's reassuring to see that the staples of a good Christmas which include families coming together, lashings of food and a good dollop of booze are universal across the globe.
Merry Christmas to you all.
