Coffee provides a host of flavours to explore. Combine it with other ingredients and you have a whole new range of taste combinations on offer.
Here are 3 of our favourites:
Coffee and chocolate
Espresso drinks are a great partner for chocolate. Try a mocha - made with a full-bodied espresso (such as those from Colombia or Guatemala) and a shot of good quality hot chocolate.
Or try a gooey chocolate brownie with a cup of drip coffee.
Take it further and experiment with coffees from different origins and roasts with milk, dark and flavoured chocolates.
Coffee and vanilla
Coffees with caramel and chocolate notes, such as the Colombian or Costa Rican blends, taste great with cinnamon and vanilla.
Try making a dirty chai - a double espresso with chai syrup and warm milk. The vanilla and blend of spices in the chai beautiful balance the acidity and enhance the sweetness in the coffee. A wonderful mid-afternoon pick-me-up.
Or enjoy a coffee with a vanilla biscotti or cinnamon bun.
Coffee and alcohol
Coffee and craft beer combinations are becoming a popular and unusual drink. We enjoy a coffee a martini on occasion - a rich and indulgent combination of espresso, vodka and coffee liqueur - it's surprising tasty and a must if you're flagging at the Christmas party this year!
We like Jamie Oliver's espresso martini recipe - read it HERE.
